Lani is a passionate and inspiring vocalist, her ability to evoke emotion within an audience is only matched by her breathtaking vocal range.
Since her arrival to Canberra in 2016, Lani was the recipient of both the 2017 Bill Hyslop Voice Prize and Erika Haas prize awarded by the ANU. Lani was also the recipient of the Christel Larko Music Scholarship (2016) and has been invited to perform at the Government House (2016), the Italian Ambassador's Residence (2017), the Austrian Ambassador's Residence (2017) and the Danish Ambassador's Residence (2017).
Lani was also the recipient of the 2015 Contemporary Vocal Scholarship awarded by Gosford Conservatorium and first prize in the 2014 Gosford Conservatoire Vocal Eisteddfod in the Classical and Foreign Language Categories.
Lani released her debut EP Fallen From Grace in February 2018 and has since toured the East Coast with shows in Canberra (Smiths Alternative), Newcastle (The Underground), Sydney (LazyBones) and Melbourne (Paris Cat Jazz Club). Fallen From Grace has since featured on ArtSound FM (ACT), QBN FM (NSW) and Joy FM (VIC), with a spread in the Newcastle Herald and as Editor’s Choice in BMA magazine.
Lani has returned from a semester abroad studying Jazz Voice at Indiana University and recently graduated from ANU School of Music with a Bmus Jazz Performance degree. Lani continues to teach, compose and perform throughout the Canberra region. While in the US, Lani was under the guidance of renowned jazz musicians including Walter Smith III, Dr Kenneth Brian Edmonds (aka Babyface) and Sachal Vasandani. Lani also performed with the IU Soul Revue and Latin Jazz Ensemble. She hopes to return to the US to pursue further studies in 2020.
